Ceremonies, Sanctuary & Honoring Sacred Space
From the beginning of time, human beings have felt the profound need and desire to create ceremonies, rituals and rites of various types, forms and purposes in order to honor life, death and the forces of nature. This essential need to create and to establish "sacred space" and a sense of safe inner and outer sanctuary and to honor the greater forces that be is a natural expression of the Great Spirit that dwells both within and without us all. Such celebrations and ceremonies remind us that we are indeed all connected ~ to the warm, creative, life sustaining fire of the sun, to the cool, powerful tidal emotions of the sea, to the nurturing, abundant sustance of mother earth and to the life affirming breath of Spirit in every breath we take each and every moment of our lives! There is so much to celebrate, to honor, to respect and to be grateful for each day, even in the midst of difficult and trying times when the very best medicine of all may simply be to perform a burning bowl ceremony and to let it all go!
Whatever the purpose or intention behind the ceremony, celebration, ritual or rite of passage...honoring the need for communion with something greater than ourselves, and the renewal of our spirit, mind and body is here to stay!
